Threshold of Hope
Hope for the World Coordinator Fatos Demiri and his wife Mirela, help the elderly at the retirement center in Saranda. Like our orphanages, we work hand in hand with the government providing the little things that the government doesn't supply, like Tylenol or Advil, extra blankets, special supplements, etc. We began helping this center when Cherie had a real burden for the widows and in fulfilling James 1:27, "Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you."
HFTW provides the elderly here with special trips and lunches, crafting supplies, and games. We help them around town and provide newspapers and "luxuries" like reading glasses. We also provide them church services, bibles, and birthdays, and an open-door policy from Fatos and his family for any need or spiritual guidance they may seek.
Perhaps most of all, they love the activities we have for them. In their own words, "Hope for the World has made us feel young again!"
